POSITION SUMMARY:
The Transfer Services Specialist (TSS) as a member of the Utilization Management (UM) team assigned to support acute patient transfers into and outside Enloe Health. The Specialist works directly with the Transfer Team staff as well as the Emergency Department, Case Management, Patient Financial Services, MedComm, EMS Transport, Payors, and external transfer services entities. The Transfer Services Specialist utilizes communication skills, organizational and problem-solving skills to ensure prompt, efficient, and safe transfers. TSS demonstrates the ability to work independently and be capable of following through on numerous multiple assignments simultaneously, using good judgment and critical thinking skills, providing excellent customer service, follow-up, and problem-solving capabilities.  In addition to coordinating patient transfer duties, the TSS provides administrative assistance for the Director and Supervisor of Transfer Services such as tracking employee employment requirements, assisting with onboarding as assigned, attending assigned meetings, supply ordering, record keeping, and data collection/reporting.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:Â Â
Minimum:
- Two years' experience working with computers (including databases, spreadsheet, Microsoft Office applications)
- Associate degree or higher in a human service or other health related field OR two years’ experience in a medical setting.
Desired:
- Previous experience in a case or utilization management setting
- Previous experience in medical back office, including insurance and billing
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:Â
Working knowledge of medical terminology. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet access. Skilled in the collection and analysis of data, and assessment of data integrity. Ability to learn from state and federal funding sources. Medical terminology. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Demonstrates evidence of strong skills in confidentiality, integrity, creativity, and initiative. Demonstrates ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals and handle confidential/sensitive situations and information with tact and sensitivity. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality always. Must be self-motivated, flexible, and detail oriented, ust be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
