About the position: As a Respite Provider, you will provide supportive, short-term care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering temporary relief to families and caregivers. You will help create a safe, respectful, and person-centered environment while promoting well-being, dignity, and independence. This role requires flexibility, reliability, and adherence to program guidelines and ethical standards.


Scheduling Note: Hours are variable and based on a mutually agreed-upon client caseload. Scheduling may fluctuate depending on client needs and service demands. While efforts are made to provide consistency, flexibility is essential in this role to ensure high-quality, responsive support for clients.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide direct supervision and support in home

  • Ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of individuals served

  • Support individuals in daily activities based on their unique needs

  • Communicate effectively with families and program staff

  • Follow established program guidelines, documentation practices, and policies

  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

  • Adapt to changing schedules and individualized support needs

  • Accurately complete timekeeping and attendance requirements

  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Must pass a post offer pre-employment background check, non- arduous physical, drug/TB screen

  • Ability to travel locally to meet with clients, partners, or attend events, if applicable.

  • Ability to work in various environments, including office and community settings.

  • Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • May require occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs), standing, walking, or assisting individuals with mobility needs, if applicable.

  • Work environment may include exposure to pet allergens. The Arc maintains a pet-friendly culture, and animals (such as the office cat) may occasionally be present in the workplace. Employees may also encounter pet allergens through donated items or community environments.
