POSITION SUMMARY:
The Charge Nurse is a licensed professional who contributes their services to providing unit specific management leadership in the areas of first-point-of-contact supervision, oversight of daily clinic operations and patient flow. They direct performance and supervise assigned staff members and assist the next level of management in directing care of the patient and support of the family. The Charge Nurse collaborates with the medical providers and interprets the medical plan to staff members. They provide patient care, patient and staff education, emotional support and education of families and the community. The Charge Nurse performs these functions in accordance with the mission and philosophy, standards policies, and practices of Enloe Medical Center.Â
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum:
- One year clinical experience in an acute care facility
Desired:
- Two year clinical experience in an ambulatory clinic/emergency department
- One year supervisory role such as charge nurse
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:Â Â
- Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing
- Current CPR certification
- ACLS within 6 months of hire/transfer
- PALS within 6 months of hire (Current employees have until December 31, 2015 to obtain)
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis in the ambulatory setting. Must have the ability to lead, motivate, delegate, analyze information and problem solve. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
