Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) – Oncology

Primary Location: Adena Cancer Center – Chillicothe, Ohio
Secondary Coverage (as needed): Washington Court House location
FTE: 0.8
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Start Date: Flexible based on credentialing and candidate availability

Practice Overview

Join a mission-driven oncology team dedicated to delivering high-quality, community-based cancer care close to home. The oncology department includes:

Physicians:

  • 6 Medical Oncologists
  • 2 Radiation Oncologists

Advanced Practice Providers:

  • 3 Certified Nurse Practitioners
  • 1 additional 0.8 FTE CNP (this position)

 

This role supports continued growth in oncology patient access, survivorship care, and hematology disease management while maintaining provider workload balance.

Position Summary

This is a primarily outpatient oncology role focused on follow-up care, hematology management, survivorship, chemotherapy education, and supportive oncology services.

You will function in a highly collaborative model with increasing autonomy while maintaining close physician partnership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative outpatient oncology visits
  • Manage long-term oncology follow-up and survivorship care
  • Provide hematology disease management
  • Deliver chemotherapy education and treatment monitoring
  • Coordinate symptom management and supportive care
  • Participate in multidisciplinary oncology team planning
  • Support patient education and care navigation
  • Assist with inpatient oncology consults during assigned coverage weeks
  • Maintain high-quality documentation and evidence-based care standards

Inpatient & Call Coverage

  • Inpatient Coverage: 1 week approximately every 5–6 weeks
  • Daytime First Call: During assigned inpatient week
  • Evening/Weekend Call: Covered by Medical Oncologists

Patient Volume

  • 8–12 patients per day
  • Mix of follow-ups, surveillance visits, hematology management, and treatment support

Each CNP is assigned a dedicated caregiver daily for rooming, messaging, and call handling.

Practice Model

  • Highly collaborative physician–APP partnership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology or hematology experience strongly preferred
  • Prior APP experience preferred due to specialty complexity
  • New graduates considered with strong oncology interest and clinical foundation
