JOB SUMMARY:

Evaluates products to determine if they conform to internal specifications and customer specifications. Provide in plant QC for the associated production plant. Provide administrative assistance to Briess QA.


TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Maintain Food Quality Plans associated with SQF certification.
  • Conducts tests on finished products and incoming goods using a variety of physical, wet chemical and microbiological methods. Prepare written reports of trends and variances in data as needed.
  • Compares analysis to specifications and releases or rejects raw ingredients and finished products.
  • Conducts raw ingredient testing and authorizes unloading or rejection of incoming goods.
  • Conducts in process, environmental and shelf-life testing.
  • Maintains analytical records database.
  • Reports analysis to Internal and external customers. Submit samples to and distributes data from outside labs as required by customers, plant, or company QA manager.
  • Conducts self-inspections of the facility.
  • Participates and or prepares for customer and regulator audits of facility.
  • Maintains and orders lab equipment and requisitions repairs when necessary. Maintains calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Develops and maintains lab policies and procedures including GLP.
  • Provides training and technical assistance to other laboratory staff and provides needed vacation, illness and overtime reduction labor as needed.
  • Support of R&D, Sales, Customer Service, Plant Operations and Engineering as required.
  • May perform other duties such as assist in research and development or production quality.
  • Develop Food Quality Plans and host associated meetings.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors / Associate Degree in a scientific discipline (or) 2-5 years of experience in food testing in a production environment required. Must have working experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in food manufacturing environment and with GMP is preferable. Must be able to complete and hold certifications in, but not limited to, SQF, PCQI, HACCP, and Internal Auditor.
