You can rest assured you will receive cutting-edge treatment in a comfortable, friendly, and high-tech environment.   The billing associate is responsible for organizing patient medical costs and sending invoices to collect payment from patients and their insurers. Their duties include calling patients to discuss payment and develop reasonable payment plans, entering patient data into administrative systems and recording information about outstanding claims   KEY RESPONSIBILITY: Prepares and submits clean paper/ electronic claims. Verifies patients benefits and eligibilities and obtains appropriate authorizations when necessary. Perform various collection actions including contacting, correcting, and re-submitting denials and correspondences from insurances companies. Files appeals as appropriate. Bills secondary carriers and/or patients for amounts owed by said party per primary insurers payment. Processes and reviews patients delinquent account weekly by mailing out statements and/or generates phone calls. Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints in a courteous and professional manner. Reviews and monitors accounts for possible collection and/or adjustments and obtain all relevant documentations for justification Processes refunds as appropriate and in a timely manner Posts payments efficiently and accurately to accounts and date of services. Ensures all checks are accounted, recorded, and reconciled with high accuracy Contacts insurance companies on payment discrepancies; underpaid, overpaid, unknown check.   LEADERSHIP: Problem assessment. Proactively sets, meets, and strives to exceed expectations     QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: Billing: 1 year (Required) Ophthalmology/Optometry preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office, NexGen EPM and EMR. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Knowledge in modifiers and CCI edits   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Experience with Medicare, Medi-Cal, W/C, PPO, HMO and Vision Plans Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Some experience in coding office visits and procedures Must be willing to work overtime when needed Friendly, positive, and energetic team player Excellent work ethic, strong sense of responsibility, and acute attention to detail Outstanding follow-up skills- see tasks through to resolution/completion Must possess excellent clerical skills and good interpersonal skills Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical software a plus Friendly attitude and people skills, with an emphasis on being a team player Spanish-speaking a plus Strong communication skills Comfortable to lead and implement change Strategic Has perspective Proven decision making and problem-solving ability Ability to build strong positive and enduring relationships internally and externally Confident Flexibility / adaptability Professional Personal integrity Sense of humor Team player
