Federal Equipment Company has been a leading supplier of marine deck machinery and specialized weapons and material handling systems. The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing.

Job title: Quality Engineering Supervisor

Reports to: Quality Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to develop and enhance team competencies.
  • Assign tasks and evaluate the performance of team members.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to address and eliminate internal and external sources of scrap and rework.
  • Oversee Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new programs and parts.
  • Drive timely resolution of non-conformance reports.
  • Develop, document, and implement process controls to ensure product quality and compliance with requirements.
  • Coordinate customer and third-party observed inspections.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely submission of quality records to customers.
  • Analyze quality system processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience demonstrating technical engine knowledge.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of quality or process experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership experience with direct reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including research and application of quality tools.
  • Advanced understanding of process control implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Action-oriented with the ability to build strong working relationships at all organizational levels, internally and externally.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, including weld symbology and GD&T.
  • Skilled in using modern office software and applications.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and more.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and analyze data to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Good visual acuity, including color perception.
  • Ability to safely lift or handle items up to 35 pounds without a lifting device.

 

This position requires access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NOFORN). Candidates must provide proof of U.S. citizenship and certify that they do not hold dual citizenship. Acceptable forms of proof include a U.S. Passport, U.S. Birth Certificate, or Naturalization Certificate.
