Parts Manager Responsibilities:
Inventory & Parts Management:
- Oversee the purchasing, stocking, distribution, and tracking of parts, fluids, filters, and shop supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels using ERP and inventory management systems (e.g., Tenna, Workday).
- Manage core returns, warranties, and backorders with vendors.
- Monitor critical parts usage trends and adjust inventory levels accordingly.
Vendor & Cost Control:
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, reliable delivery, and high-quality parts.
- Solicit quotes, negotiate pricing, and process purchase orders.
- Approve invoices, verify deliveries, and ensure accurate billing.
Team & Shop Support:
- Supervise parts counter staff and support technicians in identifying correct parts for service and repairs.
- Coordinate with fleet managers, mechanics, and operations teams to anticipate needs.
- Ensure organization and cleanliness of parts storage areas.
Technology & Reporting:
- Use software platforms for ordering, inventory tracking, cost analysis, and reporting.
- Assist with audits, cycle counts, and compliance with safety/environmental standards.
- Generate and review usage and cost reports regularly.
Desired Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in a parts department or equipment maintenance environment, preferably in construction, transportation, or heavy equipment.
- Prior experience managing inventory, vendors, and purchasing processes.
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of diesel equipment, vehicles, and related components.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ERP software (Tenna, Workday, etc.) preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or college coursework preferred.
