Summary of Position
The Dispatcher supports the Production Team by dispatching Truck Drivers (CDL and Non-CDL), for conveyance of materials in a safe manner, ensuring emails and phone calls are handled in a timely manner. The Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring goods are moved quickly and efficiently by coordinating the drivers make the best use of route time.Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains the day-to-day operations of the transportation team including meeting Production Team Member and customer needs.
- Reads and responds to emails from stores, customers, and others, providing excellent customer service.Â
- Dispatches Drivers in a safe and efficient manner.
- Determines types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required according to work orders or specifications.
- Records and maintains files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.
- Communicates power equipment defects to Maintenance.Â
- Coordinates with the Purchasing Coordinator to order supplies and equipment, issuing them to the team as needed.
- Provides feedback to the Production Management team on day-to-day operations in an effort to maintain and improve business and resolve problems.
- Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
- Models Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Fundamentals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience requiredÂ
- One year of customer service experience or dispatch experience required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Ability to speak and read English proficiently
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled environments
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift
- Ability to type, use a telephone, and perform frequent computer-based work
- Regular, predictable attendance is required
Working Conditions
- Primary Environment: office based in a warehouse environment
- Moderate noise levels typical of a warehouse environment
- Driving may be required
