ArtWorks and Pones are teaming up to activate visual art through dance! We are seeking 8 Apprentices (ages 14-21) to choreograph and perform an original piece inspired by ArtWorks mural “Commons”. Designed by Shahzia Sikander, the mural reflects themes of identity, power, autonomy, and the right for women to be heard and seen. Painted feminine figures, flowers, and winged creatures are set against a striking turquoise and royal blue background. Apprentices will research, experiment, and collaborate alongside professional dancers, activists, and artists for 10 weeks to prepare their final performance, which will be presented at BLINK at the site of the “Commons” mural. Schedule: August 11 – October 10 (10 weeks)
- Preparation: Tuesdays and Thursdays (August 11 – October 8) | 6-9PM
- Performance: Saturday, October 10 | 8-10PM
Location: Various sites.Â
- Preparation: TBD (likely a studio in Clifton, Northside, or Walnut Hills)

Requirements
- Must be 14-21 years old at start of employment.Â
- Must be available for all scheduled workdays (preparation and final performance).Â
- Dancers of all skill levels are welcome to apply! Prior training or experience is not required; we’re seeking young people who are eager to learn and explore their creativity, express their voice, gain workforce experience, and contribute to the cultural vitality of Cincinnati.

Dance Reel Requirements
- Minimum length: 1 minute (Longer submissions are welcome.)Â
- You must be the only dancer visible in the reelÂ
- You may showcase: one dance style or multiple dance stylesÂ
- At the beginning of the video, introduce yourself with: Name and AgeÂ
- Include any: Special skills; Tricks, acrobatics; Unique movement abilities
- Material may be: Choreographed or ImprovisationalÂ
- If performing choreography created by someone else, please credit the choreographerÂ
- Film Vertical instead of Horizontal
