Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communicating with various internal management and environmental consultants to submit environmental permit applications, recordkeeping forms, and reports for all applicable sites across all business units.
In this job, you will:
- Develop, coordinate, and direct multi-disciplined projects, permits, and plans that include but are not limited to air, storm water, wastewater, and spill prevention for both construction and operating activities.
- Work with and assist internal audit as requested/necessary.
- Manage the acquisition, protection and maintenance of the assigned group's physical and financial assets; operations such assets in a manner to maximize income potential while meeting stakeholder's (shareholders, employees, community) needs.
- Develop and interpret knowledge of trends within environmental regulations and industrial processes as these changes pertain to our business areas and make recommendations on how to incorporate.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of all reports to local, state, and federal agencies as outlined in permits of all media types.
- Prepare summaries of relevant permits and compliance requirements for use by facility management.
- Act as a resource for locations by training and coaching facility personnel, communicating with consultants and compliance enforcement agencies, and assist with managing spills and catastrophic events.
- Report compliance issues to appropriate party and assist with developing timely solutions.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of final QA/QC for all team documents and deliverables.
- Depending on area supported, may oversee staffing activities (hiring, training, scheduling and overtime management, task delegation, employee performance management, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, etc.).

Here’s what you’ll need to be considered:
Education
Required - Bachelor of Science in scientific field of study (i.e. Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Zoology, Engineering) or related field OR equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
Experience
Required - 5 years' experience in a fast-paced project and compliance environment, including 2 years' supervisory experience. Preferred - Industry specific software experience.
Certification
Required - Method 9 Certification, or ability to obtain Method 9 Certification within 6 months of start date.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of applicable grain, oilseed processing, and bulk storage industry and industry trends as it pertains to applicable state regulations and 40 CFR.
- Intermediate computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
- Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills, with ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively both autonomously and with limited technical supervision.
- Ability to remain on-call.
- Preferred - Ability to be active in professional groups.

Light work. Environmental Conditions
The physical environment is dependent on the activities of the workday; can be inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold and/or outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
Travel required, up to 50%.
The expected base pay range for this role is:
$90,869.00 - $119,053.00Actual pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including work location, job-related knowledge, skills and relevant experience for the job. Pay amount does not guarantee employment for any particular period of time.
