Job OverviewÂ
We are seeking an energetic, high-volume CDL Driver Recruiter to join QQR Transport's growing team. In this role, you will own full-cycle recruitment for qualified commercial driver's license (CDL) holders and owner-operators — from first contact through orientation — building a reliable pipeline of driver talent to support the company's growth. Speed matters: our best recruiters treat every new lead as time-sensitive and connect with drivers quickly, before they sign on elsewhere. Your recruiting expertise, relationship-building skills, and comfort with a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment will make a direct impact on QQR's fleet growth and driver retention.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Driver Sourcing & RecruitmentÂ
- Lead full-cycle recruiting for CDL Class A drivers, using applicant tracking system (ATS) to source, screen, and interview candidatesÂ
- Respond to new driver applications and inbound leads promptly — same-day contact is the standard — to maximize contact and qualification ratesÂ
- Conduct detailed phone and in-person interviews to assess CDL experience, equipment operated, route experience, endorsements, and overall job fitÂ
- Source candidates through job boards, social media advertising, employee referrals, job fairs, professional networks, local CDL driving schools, and trucking associationsÂ
- Build and maintain ongoing relationships with driving schools and industry associations to create a steady, repeatable candidate pipelineÂ
- Verify candidate qualifications — including MVR, PSP, employment history, and background/Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse checks — in compliance with DOT/FMCSA standardsÂ
- Develop and execute recruiting strategies and campaigns to meet company hiring goals and seasonal capacity needsÂ
Onboarding & Compliance SupportÂ
- Confirm new-hire orientation dates and coordinate related travel or lodging arrangements as neededÂ
- Coordinate road tests, drug screens, and onboarding paperworkÂ
- Collect and process required applicant documentation, ensuring driver qualification files (DQFs) are complete and audit-readyÂ
- Partner with the safety team to confirm new-hire compliance documentation meets DOT and company standardsÂ
Driver Engagement & RetentionÂ
- Build strong relationships with driver candidates and owner-operators to support engagement, satisfaction, and long-term retentionÂ
- Maintain consistent follow-up throughout recruiting, hiring, and the early weeks of employment (e.g., 30/60/90-day check-ins)Â
- Work collaboratively with executive leadership, dispatch, operations, and safety teams to support a positive overall driver experienceÂ
- Educate new drivers on company policies, safety expectations, and Carrier Safety RatingsÂ
- Build and expand QQR Driver Appreciation and Awards Program with the entire QQR team and work closely with QQR Safety Manager to support ongoing driver safety training and awards recognition eventsÂ
Reporting & Process ImprovementÂ
- Track and report recruiting KPIs — contact rate, time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, source-of-hire, and new-hire retention (e.g., 90-day retention) — to leadershipÂ
- Identify which sourcing channels deliver the best-quality candidates and recommend where to focus recruiting spendÂ
- Recommend process improvements to increase recruiting efficiency and improve the candidate experience
Required QualificationsÂ
- Previous CDL driver recruiting experience strongly preferredÂ
- Experience recruiting for OTR, regional, local, and/or dedicated CDL assignmentsÂ
- Demonstrated experience sourcing, screening, and interviewing Class A and/or Class B CDL drivers and owner-operatorsÂ
- Comfortable with high-volume outbound calling and a fast-paced, lead-driven recruiting environmentÂ
- Working knowledge of the commercial trucking and transportation industryÂ
- Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA driver qualification requirements, driver qualification files, MVR/PSP review, and Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse proceduresÂ
- General understanding of employment law and HR practices as they apply to driver hiringÂ
- Excellent communication, interviewing, and relationship-building skillsÂ
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume pipeline and multiple priorities simultaneouslyÂ
Preferred QualificationsÂ
- Experience with driver recruiting/ATS platforms such as Tenstreet or similarÂ
- Familiarity with Highway or other compliance/DQF management systemsÂ
- Experience conducting DOT road tests; current CDL a plusÂ
- Prior CDL driving or driver management experienceÂ
- Bilingual is a plusÂ
What Success Looks LikeÂ
Within your first several months, you will build a reliable, repeatable pipeline of qualified CDL drivers and owner-operators, hit target contact and time-to-hire benchmarks, and improve new-hire retention through strong onboarding, follow-up, and engagement.Â
