General Laborer

Summary/Objective
The General Laborer is essentially responsible for the presentation of the retail/wholesale yard, maintenance of that specific area of plant material and interaction with the retail/wholesale clients. The General Laborer must also successfully and professionally interact with outside vendors, Bzak Landscape and Lawn Care crews, and the site managers/assistant managers.

Requirements

Essential Functions  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  0 – 2 years’ experience in the Garden Center/Landscape  Proficient in both oral communication.  Willing to learn the operation of nursery equipment that is necessary to operate on a daily basis (i.e. tractor w/ loader, skid loader, nursery carts, etc.)  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and able to carry 15-20 pounds repeatedly through the length of the site.  Ability to operate in a stressful and fast-paced environment.  Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.  Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.  Ability to prioritize multiple tasks for various individuals.  Identify site stock needs and apply hydration and treatment as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift 50 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work  This is a full-time position. Schedule fluctuates Sunday - Saturday.

Travel  No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience  High School Diploma or equivalent in progress.
