As the Supervisor of Aquatics at the Findlay Recreation Center, you will have the opportunity to lead a dynamic aquatics program that promotes safety, wellness, and community engagement. In this role, you'll oversee daily pool operations, lifeguard and swim instructor teams, programming, and facility standards while fostering a positive and welcoming environment for members of all ages. This position combines hands-on leadership with the ability to mentor staff, enhance the guest experience, and ensure the highest standards of safety and service. Minimum Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health and Fitness or related field. (Required) 
  • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree (Preferred)
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in aquatics operations, lifeguarding, swim instruction, aquatic programming, or water-based fitness instruction. (Required) 
  • Up to 1 year of experience in a supervisor, lead lifeguard, head instructor, shift lead, or coordinator role. (Required) 
  • 3 - 4 years of experience in in aquatics leadership, pool operations, swim lesson management, or recreation/fitness center aquatics. (Preferred)
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, computer application skills, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and scheduling tools. 
  • Programs with children, adults, adolescents, seniors, families, beginners, and special populations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required 
  • Lifeguarding Instructor Required 
  • Other Water Safety Instructor, aquatic instruction, certified fitness instructor/personal trainer, or ability to obtain required certifications within 6 months based on program needs. Required

    Job Overview:

 

This position is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising aquatics personnel, including lifeguards, swim instructors, and water-based group fitness instructors. The incumbent develops and evaluates aquatic programming, maintains customer satisfaction, ensures the safety and cleanliness of pool areas, supports pool operations and vendor coordination, prepares annual budget inputs for the aquatics area, and provides Manager on Duty coverage on a rotational basis.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Works as part of the community center or site's leadership team, attends and contributes to required meetings, and models professionalism. 
  • Provides Manager on Duty coverage and performs all associated leadership, service recovery, safety, and facility oversight responsibilities. 
  • Develops the annual aquatics program plan, staffing model, and operating budget for assigned areas. 
  • Oversees aquatics staffing including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation of lifeguards, swim instructors, and water-based group fitness instructors. 
  • Coordinates aquatic vendors, maintenance partners, and TriHealth staff to ensure safe, clean, efficient, and effective pool operations and utilization. 
  • Coordinates and oversees daily pool operations, including pool chemicals, water volumes, chemical inventory, water temperature, shutdown planning, and maintenance communication. 
  • Delivers swim lessons, aquatic classes, lifeguard shifts, or on-deck supervision as appropriate.
