Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing job training, employment placement, and support services for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Goodwill’s Dormitory program provides transitional housing and services to veterans experiencing homelessness. Case management services focus on desired housing goal of the veteran and interventions to meet this goal including: housing search, vocational/employment services and benefits assistance to help veterans’ transition to independence. Responsible for: 1) providing oversight of dormitory activities and supervision of all dormitory residents; maintaining staff attendance; maintaining client data; (2) Provides case management duties (see duties below); responsible for maintaining communications with residents’ external case managers (SSVF, HUD-VASH). (3) Also responsible for identifying safety, health and general physical maintenance issues in dormitory area.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree
- EXPERIENCE: Experience working with Military Veterans preferred; minimum 2 year’s supervisory experience; 2 years’ case management experience preferred.Â
- KNOWLEDGE:Â Familiarity with Veteran homelessness; working with marginalized populations; ability to communicate effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds; familiarity with computer software such as Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of case management techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (INCLUDED PERCENT OF TIME ON TASKS)
 Supervisory Duties:
1. Supervises Dorm staff to assure delivery of Grant Funded services.
2. Works with VA/CAP line to insure optimal enrollment and appropriate placement in dorm program.
3. Develops work schedules for staff and insures coverage for every shift.
4. Maintains staff records required of dorm employees (e.g. travel reports, attendance records,
  Performance reviews).
5. Collects and completes accurate and timely client file documentation and record keeping on all
  residents.
6. Collects program and statistical data and prepares reports needed for Goodwill management orÂ
  Funding agencies.
7. Assures exiting residents who are eligible are referred to GPD Case Management.
8. Insures Follow-up on all residents exiting program and retains resulting statistics.
9. Participates in hiring, disciplining, and training of dorm direct service staff.
10. Provides regular and AD HOC reports.
(2) Case Management Duties:
- Conducts intake on vets entering program during 1st shift.
- Develops ISP’s (including Housing) for all residents;
- Provides orientation to dorm (policies-procedures) to all vets entering program on 1st shift.
- Completes VI-SPDAT on vets for whom intake was done during 1st shift.
- Enters chronological notes (‘Encounter’) relevant to each vet’s ISP and dorm activities during 1st shift.
- Enters, at a minimum, one encounter notes per veteran per shift.
- Provides housing search assistance as indicated by ISP.
- Communicates at least weekly with each resident’s Housing case manager from external agency, and, if applicable, with the employment case manager.
- Performs all Dorm Tech duties as direct.
(3) Dormitory Upkeep:
- Monitors common Dorm area and individual room upkeep, and coordinates housekeeping and needed maintenance.
- Ensures proper storage of residents’ medications; communicates with First Aid nurse on any medication concerns of resident.
PERIODICAL DUTIES:
- Maintains inventory of supplies, bedding and bath linens, laundry, first aid and dayroom supply items, and orders as needed.Â
- Reviews dorm activities and regulations with Goodwill management to determine adequacy and needed changes.
- Attend external community workgroups or training, including virtual meetings, as assigned.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
- Serves as back-up to dorm technicians as needed.
- Other relevant duties as assigned and deemed necessary in order to provide comprehensive service to dorm resident community and oversight to dorm technicians.
- Sedentary/sitting/general mobility throughout dorm area.
- Maintains professional, customer-orientated verbal communications with dorm veterans.
- Must be available for work during 1st shift hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
- Must be available for work during hours other than 1st shift if supervisory or backup duties dictate.
- Must have transportation to travel and offsite meetings as assigned.
