JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform Cardiac Ultrasound Exams -Â Prepare patients and/or parents psychologically and physically for echocardiogram. Perform the cardiac ultrasound examination as ordered by the physician, including M-MODE, 2D Doppler and Color Flow Mapping 3D and strain.
Report and Analyze Exam Results -Â Provide a verbal report to the Echocardiography Faculty. Analyze the data, provide a preliminary written report, and review results with the Echocardiac Laboratory Faculty for final interpretation. Maintain patients' records and echocardiographic laboratory logs in database. Assist with research projects as needed.
Equipment -Â Maintain equipment by cleaning scan heads and Electrocardiogram (EKG) lead wires after each patient and following the guidelines of the infection disease committee.
Teamwork -Â Share knowledge and provide technical support for one another. Assume on-call responsibilities for Neonatal External Intensive Care Units at external hospital partnerships and others as directed. Assist with the training of cardiology fellow or visitors.
Research -Â May participate in clinical research related to cardiovascular disease. Measure and analyze echocardiographic data for research projects. Prepare and present findings in selected forums; at cardiology, echocardiography and sonographers meetings; at meetings of potential funding sources (such as industry and The American Heart Association); at meetings of non-experts interested in medical research (students and journalists). Prepare and present scientific reports (abstracts, manuscripts and articles) and manuals.
To perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations and to assist in analyzing the data for interpretation within the Cardiology department of a Medical Center dedicated to the care of infants, children and adolescents.
