Job Description Summary

This role reports to the Instrumentation Engineering and Operations (IEO) section leader in the Test Measurements Pillar of Product Validation. The Applied and Separable Engineering sub section is responsible for taking customer requests and turning them into work packages/instructions for our instrumentation application shop and rake/machine shop to execute on. This includes customer engagements for hardware shop mod definition, requirements definition and iteration, following and creating best practices, having a presence in the shops, and managing overall cost and delivery of the process from requirements definition to work instruction delivery – with quality implications and checking in on in process jobs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring requirements definition/clarity and delivering instrumentation application/installation instructions, calibration activities, and lead out design efforts in support of the design and validation of products and services. Responsible for design and application/installation of instrumentation sensors and systems and quality control of the designs submitted to the application/manufacturing shops.
  • Typically a 1st line manager of professionals or a 2nd line manager of a professional department. Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a related field
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
