Experienced Roofer – 

The Durable Slate Company is an award-winning historic roofing contractor specializing in slate, copper, and clay-tile roofing. Established in 1986, we are known nationwide for exceptional craftsmanship, safety, and preservation excellence. We’re currently seeking an Experienced Roofer who takes pride in their work and is open to learning historic roofing using traditional methods and delivering high-quality work. Through our paid apprenticeship you will be able to move at your pace in learning the art of historic roofing.

What You’ll Do

• Install, repair, and restore traditional slate, tile and copper roofing systems

• Work with natural slate, clay tile, copper flashing, and related materials

• Perform detailed craftsmanship on historic and architecturally significant buildings

• Maintain safe, professional job sites and follow company safety standards

• Collaborate with a team of highly skilled craftspeople and preservation specialists

• Travel to various job sites with paid travel time and logistics support provided

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years roofing experience (slate preferred, not required)

• Strong knowledge of  roofing installation, repair techniques, and flashing details

• Comfort working at heights using ladders, lifts, and scaffolding

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points, ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check

• Commitment to quality craftsmanship, safety, and professionalism

• Desire for a long-term career in historic preservation roofing
