General Description

 

Under limited supervision, the Mobile Equipment Maintenance Supervisor assigns daily work to Shop Equipment Mechanics. Is required to explain instructions and documentation to plan work activities. Coordinates movement of materials and equipment to shop locations. Completes and reviews records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various cleanup activities. Job may require moderate to heavy lifting. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.

 

Site Specific Technical Description include but not limited to:

 

  • Organizes and coordinates the activities involved to maintain and repair mechanical equipment, including trucks, automobiles, diesel engines, etc. 
  • Ensures that equipment is maintained according to requirements. 
  • Utilizes and provides oversight for a Computerized Equipment Management System to monitor and control equipment maintenance. 
  • Advises employees of proper operation and maintenance of equipment, mentors new mechanics, and further develops skills of current workers. 
  • Monitors equipment operation at job site and ensures that proper maintenance and safety procedures are followed. 
  • Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of parts and supplies to ensure timely maintenance. Promotes safety, QIP awareness, and teamwork. 
  • Requires knowledge of mobile equipment training elements that will bring value and efficiency to the PM of Mobile Equipment that also supports repair and/or replacement of equipment components.

 

Possesses knowledge and provides oversight of routine preventive maintenance and/or repairs on but not limited to:

 

  • Personnel Lifts, Club Car Passenger / Utility Carts, Club Car Villager 4 Passenger/ Utility Carts.
  • Tennant Shop Tools & Equipment, and Tennant Sweeper.
  • Electric, Diesel, and Gas Material Handling Equipment.
  • Toyota, Hyster, Materials Handling Equipment, Industrial Carts, Generators
  • Aerial Lifts, Scissor Lift, Fork Truck, Telehandler
  • Grove 50 Ton Hydraulic Crane and below
  • Small Engine repairs and Battery Maintenance
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and drawings
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating parts
  • Diagnose and identify malfunctions, using computerized tools and equipment
  • Inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn parts
  • Test major components, such as engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems to determine repair/place method
  • Disassemble and reassemble various components
  • Travel to worksites to repair various mobile equipment (satellite locations)

Can diagnose and repair electrical system, cooling system, braking system, fuel system (gasoline / propane) and steering system. Be able to operate in a safe manner drill press, engine tune-up meters, and related shop equipment. Operates electrical test equipment used in the repair and diagnosis of electrical components. Operates and drive all above mentioned equipment.

Supervisory Skills & Qualifications

 

The purpose of the Mobile Equipment Maintenance Supervisor assignment is to ensure all employees follow health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures of their assigned tasks including but are not limited to:

 

  • Possesses 3-5 years of experience with direct supervision of employees within the mobile equipment shop environment 
  • Possesses general computer skills (i.e. email, WORD, Excel programs), good verbal communications skills, including phone, radio, and plant intercom systems. 
  • Capable of Planning & Scheduling related work activities. 
  • Accomplishes maintenance tasks by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. 
  • Creates atmosphere for employees to engage in personal growth opportunities. 
  • Greets employees daily at the beginning and/or end of shift. 
  • Establishes daily/morning employee safety huddles at the beginning of shift. 
  • Conducts daily end of shift employee safety huddle to ensure employees are fit, and that all work assignments have been completed as scheduled. 
  • Administers to employee daily timesheets, and personnel recordkeeping. 
  • Participates in the B&R Monthly Mass Safety Meeting. 
  • Participates in B&R Monthly RSLT Meeting (Conference call), and the B&R Monthly Focus Meeting (Conference call). 
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments. 
  • Conducts B&R Daily/Weekly safety audits observing work activity to ensure Operational Discipline is being upheld, any work permits are in place to include LTO, and that supporting TSTI/JSA is in place, and being followed. 
  • When asked, participates in DuPont Daily/Weekly Safety audits.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Capable of being exposed to dusty, hot/cold/wet conditions (snow-rain) 
  • General - Must be able to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, elevated walkways, and walk, stand, stoop, work in awkward positions underneath equipment, for extended periods of time, enter tight congested areas to include awkward position, and be able to lift 50 lbs. single person – 80 lbs. w/two persons. 
  • Discipline related – must be able to frequently ascend/descend ladders, steps, walkways of cranes, mobile equipment, fork trucks, and boom trucks.
