General Manager

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, financial results, safety compliance, customer satisfaction, and personnel management of the assigned location. The General Manager provides direction to all managers and employees and is accountable for achieving company objectives related to revenue growth, operational excellence, workforce development, regulatory compliance, and profitability.

The General Manager serves as the senior on-site leader and is responsible for ensuring company policies, procedures, and standards are consistently implemented and maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all daily business operations.
  • Ensure efficient execution of company processes, procedures, and service standards.
  • Develop and execute plans to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability.
  • Ensure facilities, equipment, and operational assets are maintained in safe and functional condition.
  • Respond to operational issues, emergencies, customer escalations, and business disruptions.
  • Monitor revenue, labor, expenses, productivity, and profitability metrics.
  • Monitor customer feedback, online reviews, and customer satisfaction indicators.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and service failures.
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop management and non-management employees.
  • Establish performance expectations and hold employees accountable for results.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety programs, policies, and procedures, including but not limited to Injury and Illness Prevention, Emergency Action, Hazard Communication, Workplace Violence Prevention, Heat Illness Prevention, Fleet Safety, Powered Industrial Trucks, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, and other company safety programs.
  • Lead accident, injury, property damage, vehicle accident, and near-miss investigations.
  • Promote a culture of workplace safety and accountability.
  • Minimize operational, financial, and regulatory risk through proactive management practices.
  • Maintain required operational, personnel, safety, and compliance records.
  • Ensure accurate completion and retention of required documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with responsibility for operations and personnel management.
  • Ability to analyze business performance metrics and implement improvement strategies.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification requirements.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Operations, or related field.
  • Multi-department or multi-functional management experience.
  • Experience managing safety programs, fleet operations, workers' compensation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience leading customer service and sales-driven operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift)
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
  • Frequently use hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and move items up to 50 pounds
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Exposure to water, cleaning agents, and operational equipment
  • Work in a fast-paced operational environment with frequent exposure to noise, interruptions, and multiple simultaneous activities.
