About the role
The Assistant Warehouse Manager acts as the critical link between internal inventory operations and external delivery networks, ensuring high-volume outbound goods are packed, labeled, and loaded accurately and on time. This role is a hands-on, fast-paced leadership position that requires managing teams of associates and coordinating with carriers to meet critical deadlines.
What You’ll Do
- Outbound Operations Management:
Lead all outbound shipping activities, including picking, packing, and loading, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with customer requirements. - Team Leadership:
Manage, train, and develop shipping staff by assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and driving results against key metrics such as on-time dispatch and order accuracy. - Carrier Coordination:
Work closely with carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, LTL freight) to schedule pickups and deliveries, resolve freight issues, and ensure efficient, cost-effective shipping operations. - Safety & Compliance:
Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing OSHA standards and company policies, including proper use of equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and PPE. - Documentation & Systems:
Ensure all shipping documentation is accurate and complete, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), manifests, and ASNs, while utilizing WMS and ERP systems effectively. - General Management:
Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to support overall operations and do what’s needed to deliver a high level of service to both customers and employees
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; alternatively, an associate degree with 3+ years of relevant experience in a similar leadership role
- 3+ years of experience in a high-volume warehouse environment with progressive supervisory responsibility
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels, including frontline staff and executive leadership
- Proven leadership ability to manage and motivate teams across multiple shifts
- Forklift operation experience with a strong commitment to OSHA safety standards
- Working knowledge of WMS and inventory management systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 60 lbs
