Content Moderator (Journalism and Media)

About the position
In October 2020 we launched the company and it is growing immensely.
Our contributor program brings together professional journalists, experts, and high-quality
content creators to deliver relevant, local, and original content. Creators cover
everything from in-depth investigative features to timely events happening around town. Our
content moderation team plays a huge role in the success of our program and we are looking for
additional team members who can review and make sure our contributor's content meets all of
our requirements. Prior experience in writing or editing is a huge plus!

Responsibilities
Review articles, photos, videos and listing content according to policies
and guidelines while upholding a high standard of accuracy and quality
Review contributor content and assign labels and scores based on quality
Investigate and resolve complex issues regarding content within agreed-upon
turnaround times and standards of quality
Understand and remain current with community guidelines and review content in
accordance to defined policies and procedures
Stay up to date with current events and news in the U.S.
Maintain a consistent and transparent review methodology
Consistently meet daily and weekly targets

Qualifications
Strong proofreading/editing/review skills
Be able to differentiate between good, quality content and low-quality content
Have strong interest and knowledge regarding creator content, journalism and blogging
Assist in identifying accounts that continuously abuse our policies/program
Ability to learn quickly and provide sound judgment to classify content based on a set of
policies and requirements
Navigate through ambiguity and be comfortable working in a flexible environment
Comfortable reviewing occasional sensitive content, including pornography, violence,
drug use, child abuse, etc.
Ability to work differing work rotations/shifts and non-standard work hours (including
weekends)
Strong written and oral communication skills and thorough understanding of online news and the internet
