Engineering Technician

Centro, Inc. – Full-Time, On-Site

Location: Claremont, NC 

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours a week, typically 8 hours a day with flexibility as necessary

Job Summary

The Project Engineering Technician supports engineering projects by designing, building, installing, and repairing workstations, fixtures, and equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, working with tools, improving processes, and contributing to a high‑performance manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Manufacturing and Project Engineering teams with daily technical needs.
  • Design, build, and improve manufacturing methods, fixtures, tools, and workstations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve engineering and processing issues using root cause analysis.
  • Participate in engineering R&D activities, including basic AutoCAD or other CAD software work.
  • Recommend and assist with purchasing tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Train associates on processes, tools, equipment, and safety practices.
  • Build, modify, and install workstations, benches, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Become a certified forklift operator and operate equipment safely.
  • Assist with machine installations and new facility setups, including off‑site work when required.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year of hands‑on mechanical or engineering experience.
  • Strong mechanical, mathematical, and technical aptitude.
  • MIG welding proficiency.
  • Ability to operate a wide range of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and reaching.

Preferred

  • Associate degree in mechanical, vocational, or engineering discipline.
  • TIG welding experience.
  • AutoCAD / CREO / SolidWorks experience.
  • Prior manufacturing or production experience.
  • CNC machining experience (3‑axis or 5‑axis).
