Overview

Performs maintenance and repairs work in all general areas, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and the ability to prioritize. Responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance on a daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual basis, depending on equipment. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, renovating, and construction of plumbing distribution and fixtures steam distribution and heating. Performs all required inspections, and testing and preventative maintenance on all the plumbing systems. Strong knowledge of NFPA 25, 70, 72, 99, and 110. Good working knowledge of State and local codes and their application in healthcare.


Qualifications

Health Services Journeyman Plumber I

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); no exceptions.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

At least three (3) years of experience required.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.  Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued Journeyman Plumber’s license. Must obtain CPR within six (6) months of hire.

 

Health Services Journeyman Plumber II

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Associates degree from a 2-year college or technical school; or two (2) years (60 credit hours) coursework from a 4-year college or university; or three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

An additional three (3) years of journeyman-level plumbing experience required.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should know Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Critical thinking skills.  Decisive judgment.  Must be able to work in a stressful environment.  Review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and solve practical problems.  Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the function of the include interpret resulting data; standards for design and construction; building codes and DNV requirements and all applicable NFPA codes 55, 99, 110, and regulations; hazards and safety precautions.  Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.  Ability to work as a member of a team.  Good working knowledge of wet/dry sprinkler systems.

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-100 pounds. Special vision requirements for this position are color vision and peripheral vision.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather related), extreme heat (non-weather related), and the risk of electrical shock.  The employee may occasionally be exposed to work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of radiation, and vibration.
