POSITION: Head Softball Coach
DESCRIPTION:
The Coach at Clarendon College reports directly to the Athletic Director and indirectly to the President. The Coach position carries out all of the duties and responsibilities incumbent upon all instructional personnel while performing the coaching function as it relates to the sport assigned. The Coach is expected and required to encourage and promote high academic and athletic standards and to build excellence in the classroom and on the playing field or court. The Coach is required to have a State of Texas Commercial Driver鈥檚 License and a DOT Physical Exam on file if traveling out of state.

路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Set a high standard in academic and scholarly excellence, personal integrity, professional competence, and professional ethics. Work to enrich the emotional well-being of the student-athlete through proper role modeling and the demonstration of high ethical standards and behavior.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Recruit student athletes for his or her assigned sport(s); recruit student athletes who possess individual traits indicating good character and personal goals reflecting a desire for academic and athletic success. Work individually and collaboratively with others to recruit new students and work to retain current students.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Field a team that will be as competitive as possible within the guidelines set by institutional policies and rules and legal boundaries prescribe by the Western Junior College Athletic Conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist student athletes in his or her sport(s) with academic counseling. Assist in advising and registration, as assigned.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Develop strategies for competition in his or her sport(s)
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Fulfill all the contractual obligations for the period of time agreed and give the institution reasonable notice when resigning.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Conduct physical conditioning sessions and practices for student athletes who are members of the intercollegiate sport activity.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Coach the team during competition.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Supervise all team practices, competition activities, and student athletes, including student athletes during away games.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Schedule team activities including developing a competition schedule.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Arrange for officials for sporting events.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Arrange for team travel, accommodations, and meals.



路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Make arrangement for visiting teams and officials/umpires as needed.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Supervise maintenance of playing area or field.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Manage and care for athletic equipment. Inventory and order equipment and supply as authorized by the Athletic Director.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Participate in program are division and college faculty meetings, provide input on textbook adoption, program planning and evaluation, budgets, and the selection of supplies and equipment.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Use the funds of the institution allocated to the budget of the department or a special project in effective and efficient manner.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Manage scholarship awards in his or her sport(s)
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Report, communicate, and receive pre-approval for any or all fund-raising activities from the Athletic Director and the President. Fund- raising activities are to be handled in proper accordance with Clarendon College and NJCAA policies.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Maintain stats in accordance with NJCAA Region 5 and NJCAA.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Work on standing and ad hoc committees of the College, as assigned.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Support College activities and special events through attendance and/or participation, including advising of a campus club(s) team, and /or other activities.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Comply with all college policies, rules and regulations.
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Performs all other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or President.
