About the Role:
American Heavy Plate is a steel service center. As an Accountant within the manufacturing industry, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining the financial health of the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing cost accounting processes, bank reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger to support sound financial decision-making. You will be responsible for maintaining detailed records of financial transactions, preparing balance sheets, and conducting account reconciliations to guarantee data integrity. Additionally, this role involves coordinating with internal and external auditors to assist with financial audits and ensure adherence to accounting principles and regulatory requirements. Ultimately, your work will contribute to the operational efficiency of the company by providing timely, precise and accurate financial information.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Associate Degree in Accounting with extensive experience will be considered
- Proven experience in cost accounting and financial accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Experience preparing and analyzing balance sheets, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Experience with financial audits and working with external auditors.
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, macros, and financial modeling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze cost accounting reports to monitor and analyze manufacturing expenses
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between company records and bank statements.
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded correctly and timely.
- Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports in accordance with accounting principles.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Support financial audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with established accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory standards.

Proficiency in accounting principles and systems enables the accountant to maintain compliance and produce reliable financial reports.
