Job Responsibilities:
•   The qualified candidate will inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment in the steel mill environment.
•   Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to manufacturing equipment and machinery
•   Dismantle equipment when required for repair or transportation and reassemble it at the appropriate time
•   Move equipment to appropriate site for repair or maintenance to avoid contamination or workplace safety hazards
•   Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation
•   Grind, file and weld machinery parts both on-site and in controlled circumstances
•   Replace defective parts of a machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
•   Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
•   Test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
•   Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
•   Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
•  Troubleshoot equipment repair needs
•  Knowledge and use of hand tools and power tools
•   Ability to read and understand drawings and printed instructions
•  Interpret drawings related to the installation and operation of machinery and equipment.Â
•  Perform preventive maintenance.Â
•  Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical power transmission, welding, rigging and pipe fitting along with a high mechanical aptitude
•  Observe all safety regulations and all required PPE.Â

•   Basic shop math skills.Â
•   Basic computer and communications skills needed.

•   Repairing -- Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
•   Troubleshooting -- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

•   Equipment Maintenance -- Performing routine and preventative maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

•   Active Learning -- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
•   Judgment and Decision Making -- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
•   Operation Monitoring -- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
•   Some experience in construction/manufacturing environment is required
