Job Summary
A shift supervisor is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of their assigned shift, typically focused on achieving production goals, ensuring safety and quality, and managing the assigned workforce. This position will also actively work on the floor when necessary.

General Responsibilities
- Oversee shift operations and ensure workflow efficiency.
- Organize, monitor and prioritize tasks to meet production goals as provided.
- General knowledge and ability to operate all service center equipment
- Manage and coach employees to improve performance.
- Monitor productivity and implement strategies to enhance output.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Handle employee scheduling and task assignments.
- Provide performance evaluations and feedback to team members.
- Resolve conflicts and address workplace concerns professionally.
- Collaborate with management to improve operational processes.
- Maintain records of team performance, attendance, and progress.
- Monitor and approve timecards for payroll
- Report issues or challenges to senior management.
Skills
- General knowledge of a steel processing industrial environment.
- Forklift and overhead crane operations
- Proven experience as a Supervisor, Team Leader, or similar role.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in using office software and reporting tools.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.

Job Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree in a related field a plus
- Experience: 1-2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Physical Demands
- Maneuver around a shop floor
- Standing and walking for long periods of time
- Climb stairs, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Occasional overnight business travel
- Ability to read fine print on labels
