Working under the guidance of LICDC Executive Director, the Assistant Director supports the Director by managing daily operations, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with state health and safety licensing regulations, assisting in the education of the children and fostering parent communication. Key roles include hiring and training, curriculum implementation, administrative tasks, and covering as acting director in the absence of the Executive Director. The Assistant Director should possess ample knowledge that is required for our non-profit organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the functions of LICDC (including but not limited to):

路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist in classrooms to maintain ratios when necessary
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Attend monthly team and/or board of director鈥檚 meetings to communicate needs and progress to LICDC management聽
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Follow center policies for cleaning and sanitizing equipment and toys

Administrative and Operational Support (including but not limited to):

路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Have a basic understanding of the center鈥檚 financial and non-profit status
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Maintain organizational insurance policies and renewals聽
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist with audit preparations and liaise with external accountants and vendors
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Help develop and improve financial and administrative policies and procedures聽
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist, develop and implement strategic and business plans to reach targeted goals
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Maintain Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements and monthly documentation and applications, along with utilizing and implementing CACFP trainings聽
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Maintaining proficiency and accuracy in documentation and requirements for subsidy families
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assisting and ensuring waitlist applications are maintained and submitted in a timely manner聽

Under guidance of Executive Director; while supporting the learning of the children, including, but not limited to:

路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Guiding/assisting classrooms to be sure they follow NAEYC requirements
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assisting classrooms in the required Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS) and Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) framework
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist in supervising classroom activities and meeting curriculum objectives
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist in ensuring a clean, safe and healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children/classrooms
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist in ensuring lesson plans are submitted and executed
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist in ensuring observations are being submitted correctly in Teaching Strategies and help with monthly child portfolio checks
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist in WVSTARS maintenance and required hours of all staff聽
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist in performance evaluation process of all staff聽
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Assist in staff weekly scheduling聽

Education, Licensing, and Certification requirements:

路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in Early Child Education (or related field) and at least 5 years in Early Childhood Education field preferred. 聽
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Understanding of payroll processing, budget management and financial reporting
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Excellent attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Comprehensive physical examination, including drug screening
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Verification of a negative TB test and maintain verification as required
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Undergo a criminal background check and fingerprint clearance
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Adult and pediatric first aid and CPR required
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Food handler card required
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Complete professional development training via WV STARS
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽On an annual basis, evaluate job performance and develop a continuing education plan

Safety Requirements:

路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Frequently lift, move, or hold children with a range of 10 to 40 pounds
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Supervise and interact with employees and children outdoors for extended periods of time
路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Demonstrate full range of motion and ability to fully participate in activities
