Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Controller is responsible   for leading all financial and accounting operations for our multi-plant   manufacturing organization. This position ensures accurate financial   reporting, effective internal controls, consistent accounting practices, and   sound financial management across all manufacturing facilities. The   Controller partners closely with executive leadership and plant management to   improve profitability, optimize manufacturing costs, standardize financial   processes, and support the company’s strategic growth objectives.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct the monthly financial close process.
  • Review financial statements, including income   statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Provide financial leadership and oversight for   multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Manage intercompany transactions
  • Maintain standardized accounting policies, financial   controls, and reporting procedures across all plants.
  • Monitor financial performance by plant, identify   operational trends, and recommend actions to improve profitability and   efficiency.
  • Coordinate financial activities between locations to   ensure consistency and alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee standard costing, inventory valuation, and   manufacturing cost accounting
  • Analyze labor, material, freight, scrap, and   overhead variances to identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset accounting   functions and manage depreciation schedules. 
  • Ensure effective internal controls are implemented   and consistently followed across all manufacturing facilities.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable financial   reporting requirements and tax regulations.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and   procedures to support organizational growth and scalability.
  • Optimize working capital by improving inventory   management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable performance.
  • Monitor plant inventory levels and support   initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and turnover.
  • Responsible for annual physical inventory and   monitoring monthly cycle count adjustments.
  • Support pricing, quoting, product profitability, and   margin analysis.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering,   Purchasing, and Supply Chain to improve manufacturing efficiencies and reduce   costs.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and performance   management to the Accounting Team.
  • Build strong partnerships with operational leaders   to strengthen financial accountability throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting   Principles (GAAP), company policies, and applicable regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work conditions are normal for an office environment, with some time spent on the manufacturing floor.
  • Work involves standing and walking, as well as prolonged periods sitting at a desk or working on a computer.
  • Work may involve lifting up to 25 lbs. at a time.
  • Noise level is normal for an office environment. 

Requirements

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 5 years in manufacturing.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft ERP systems; experience with Business Central a plus
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple manufacturing plants.
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidations and ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing finance.
  • Experience with financial consolidations and multi-site reporting.
  • Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
