Humbug Lighting | Clarksville – Nashville – Franklin
Help us build something special in Middle Tennessee

This Is Not a Seasonal Gig

Humbug Lighting completed our first full season in 2025 with tremendous success — and 2026 is about growth.

We are expanding beyond holiday lighting into a full-service permanent, landscape, and event lighting company, and we’re looking for a proven Lead Technician to grow with us.

This is a year-round leadership opportunity that begins part-time and ramps to full-time in 2026, with a clear path to Territory Operations Manager for the right person.

🚨 IMPORTANT — READ FIRST

This role REQUIRES prior professional experience working on multi-story roofs.

We are not looking for candidates who think they’re comfortable on roofs or ladders.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Worked professionally on multi-story residential or commercial roofs

  • Regularly used extension ladders and followed ladder safety protocols

  • A working understanding of roof safety, pitch, footing, and situational awareness

  • Remained productive and calm at height — as part of a job, not a hobby

If you do not have real, on-the-job roof experience, this role will not be a fit.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Lead Lighting Technician, you are the face of Humbug on the job site and fully accountable for install quality and customer experience.

Your typical day includes:

  • Pulling work orders and materials from the warehouse

  • Driving a company vehicle (with crew) to job sites

  • Leading lighting installations start-to-finish

  • Safely accessing and working on multi-story roofs

  • Interacting directly with customers and identifying upsell opportunities

  • Troubleshooting on-site using our core value:
FITFO – Find Intelligent and Tactical Fixes and Options

  • Escalating issues to the Operations Manager when appropriate

Crew size: Lead Technician + one technician

Primary Focus (2025–2026)

  • Permanent lighting

  • Landscape lighting

  • Holiday lighting (Q4)

Holiday season is fast-paced, physically demanding, and requires long hours — with commensurate production-based pay and bonuses.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

  • $22+/hour base for experienced technicians

  • Production-based pay (% of revenue) during install work

  • Performance bonuses + sales commission

  • Company vehicle provided

  • Authority to run installs and make on-site decisions

  • Clear advancement path to Territory Operations Manager

  • A chance to help shape a premium lighting brand from the ground up

This role is for someone who wants ownership, not micromanagement.

What We’re Looking For

Mandatory Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

  • 21+ years old

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Comfortable driving a company vehicle with crew members

  • Professional experience working on multi-story roofs

  • Proven ladder safety and roof access experience

  • Strong communication skills and professionalism with customers

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Low-voltage lighting experience

  • Construction, roofing, or exterior trade background

  • Prior crew leadership

  • Lift experience or certification (not required, but a strong plus)

Our Standards & Culture

We are a high-end lighting installation company, and our work reflects that.

Our core values:

  • We Own the Outcome

  • Raising the Bar on Customer Service in Middle Tennessee

  • FIFTFO – Find Intelligent and Tactical Fixes and Options

We expect:

  • Attention to detail

  • Safe, professional job sites

  • Confident, customer-facing leadership

  • Pride in craftsmanship

The Bottom Line

If you have real roof experience, strong leadership instincts, and want to help build something special — this is an opportunity to grow into a long-term leadership role while being paid for performance.

Help us build something special in Middle Tennessee.
