Job DetailsLevel: EntryJob Location: Claxton, GA 30417Position Type: Full TimeJob Shift: DayJob Category: Admin - ClericalPosition Description • Under the general direction of the Patient Access and Centralized Scheduling supervisor, schedules and pre-registers patients, receives orders, obtains and documents pre-certification, and verifies accurate and complete patient information (demographics, insurance information) is entered in billing system. Communicates with patients, medical staff, medical staff personnel, and visitors while maintaining confidentiality.   Essential Position Responsibilities • The essential position responsibilities are the basis for the 90 day and annual evaluation. This list is intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed and not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties required of personnel. 1. Schedules outpatient tests for Radiology, Respiratory and surgical/out-patient procedures through Avreo and CPSI. 2. Ensures orders are received and contain all needed information. 3. Obtains and verifies that pre-certs are correct and documents in CPSI. 4. Maintains the schedule that is given to Patient Access and Respiratory on a daily basis. 5. Completes Pre-registration / Co-pay Authorization Worksheet on all procedures. 6. Calls patient the day before to remind them of their procedure and informs of appointment time any co-pays due at time of service. 7. Maintains physician orders that are received prior to service date. 8. Works closely with Patient Access to streamline the registration process. 9. Pre registers patients who are scheduled for future services, obtaining, documenting and/or updating required demographic and insurance information in CPSI. 10. Completes MSP questionnaire on all Medicare patients during pre-registration call. 11. Communicates problems quickly to Patient Access/Scheduling Supervisor. Assists the centralized scheduling supervisor with problem resolution. 12. Continually seeks way to improve department efficiency. 13. Presents an accommodating and receptive manner to patients. 14. Presents a professional and positive image in appearance and communications. 15. Adheres to hospital, departments, and personnel policies and procedures. 16. Participates in the department’s quality improvement program by assuring data entered into CPSI is timely, accurate, and complete to assure procedures are scheduled in accordance with time frames established by EMH policy and procedure. 17. Performs all other related assignments and special projects as requested. 18. Arrives to work on time, on scheduled days, during scheduled hours. Maintains flexibility with work schedules in meeting the needs of the department. 19. Organizes and prioritizes work in a manner consistent with safe, efficient and cost effective resource utilization. 20. Displays a team player attitude (supportive, positive, cooperative) and takes every opportunity to work well with others. Effectively communicates verbally and in writing. Displays a willingness to help at all times and in all areas to meet the needs of the organization. 21. Demonstrates support for the mission/vision of the organization.QualificationsMinimal Qualifications • Education level equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school. Completion of a medical terminology course helpful. Basic computer skills with typing speed of 28 words per minute. Clerical experience required. One (1) year prior experience in medical office/hospital registration, pre-certification and scheduling experience preferred.   Physical/Mental Demands 1. Ability to think and work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions; to move, sit, stand, walk, and bend intermittently throughout the work day. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 2. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable the applicant to adequately fulfill the requirements of this position. 3. Use of mechanical and technical equipment required for the responsibilities assigned. 4. External and internal applicants who are/become disabled, must be able to perform the essential position responsibilities with unaided or with assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.   Occupational Exposure to Blood borne Pathogens • Category III – Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.   Orientation Period • Up to 90 days to perform proficiently all essential position responsibilities. The first ninety (90) days this position is assumed is considered the probationary/introductory period, for which the employee is subject to continuous review.
