In this role, you will work closely with a passionate and collaborative group of creatives. Our goal is to improve the overall look and feel of our website and enhance the online customer experience.

Overview of the Senior Digital Tech Role

As part of the Williams Sonoma creative team, you will bring your skills and expertise to support in-house and freelance Photographers in successfully executing the Art Director's creative vision. You will partner closely with photographers, stylists, retouching and other creative teams to ensure smooth capture workflows, accurate color, and reliable asset delivery. Your strong attention to detail, organizational skills and technical mastery will combine to create compelling imagery and enhance the overall aesthetic for all marketing channels for both Williams Sonoma Home and Williams Sonoma.

Responsibilities

  • Manage on-set image capture workflows, including tethered shooting and file handling, adhering to established file naming conventions, file formats and file delivery methods. Serve as the technical expert for photo capture systems and processes on set, and support/train visiting freelance Digital Techs as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Photographer and Art Director to create images that align with their general creative direction, translating that creative vision into high-quality final digital assets and placing images in various layout templates with Art Director's guidance, for executive approval.
  • Perform initial retouching tasks such as comping new product photography into existing set/location images, cleaning up imperfections in product samples and removing set equipment, and adjusting overall color and lighting as needed.
  • Liaise between Photo, Retouching and Asset Production teams – staying up-to-date on photo schedules, production deadlines and status of current work in progress.
  • Partner with Sr Color Manager to ensure color accuracy and overall consistency of the image capture process.
  • Assist in-house Retouching team with product and editorial image retouching and color correction as workload and schedules allow.
  • Keep up to date with current industry standards, monitoring emerging technologies, techniques, and creative trends.
  • Transport materials and equipment and lift, move, and carry objects up to 50 pounds on a limited basis.

Criteria

  • 5+ years of experience as a Digital Tech in a commercial or studio environment, preferably within the high-end home furnishings industry; experience with food and luxury goods a plus.
  • Expert with Capture One; formal training in the use of digital camera systems a plus.
  • Expert with Adobe Photoshop, proficient with Bridge and InDesign.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse personalities and communication styles in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with all photo studio tools, lighting and technical systems; formal training in device color management a plus.
  • Experience with Adobe Workfront, Airtable, Capture Fox (or similar systems) and DAM systems a strong plus.
  • Experience with generative AI a plus.
  • Comfortable managing multiple deliverables concurrently.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to perform work full-time, onsite in the Richmond office.

The expected starting pay range for this position is $97,500 - $115,800. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
