Overview

The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment and systems. This union position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and executing repairs to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. The technician will work closely with various teams to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions. A strong focus on safety and compliance with industry standards is essential to maintain a safe working environment. Ultimately, the Maintenance Technician contributes to the overall efficiency, reliability, and teaching culture of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Available to work a 2pm - 10pm schedule.
  • Promptly repair plant machinery and equipment to minimize downtime during breakdowns.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the shop, boiler room, compressor rooms, and work areas.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all machinery to prevent future issues.
  • Ensure that the facility’s buildings and grounds are well-maintained.
  • Adhere to all quality system requirements and food safety regulations.
  • Be available to work overtime and flexible shifts, including more than 40 hours per week when necessary.
  • Comply with plant rules and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Follow all plant safety rules, including lockout/tag out and confined space procedures.
  • Meet all food safety, quality, and customer requirements for the position.

Experience

  • Proven industrial mechanic experience within a manufacturing facility environment.
  • Strong electrical experience, including working with industrial electricians on high voltage and low voltage systems.
  • Hands-on knowledge of hydraulics, HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration), welding and schematics interpretation.
  • Familiarity with CMMS software for maintenance tracking and documentation.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and mechanical drawings accurately.
  • Excellent analysis skills to troubleshoot complex machinery issues efficiently.
  • Strong customer service orientation when interacting with internal teams or external vendors during repairs or inspections.

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Post-secondary education or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Forklift License (provided by employer).
