ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

Operation PAR, Inc. is a non-profit organization offering the full continuum of services for individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders.  PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for managing the referrals that come for PAR’s services (phone lines, CAM, external entities, and internal referrals). Responsible for screening clients for admission into our services, ensuring they meet the necessary criteria for substance abuse and mental health treatment. Duties include conducting initial assessments, reviewing treatment consents, and explaining patient rights and responsibilities. Manages the intake process, including financial reviews and documentation. Using telehealth services for clinical screenings and counseling. Performs various administrative tasks as assigned. Care Coordination for clients to include intake, discharge planning, outreach, and linkages to other services both within and without PAR.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES:

Understanding the complex nature of our clients:

  • Knowledge of substance use, mental health, harm reduction, and trauma informed care
  • Identify effects of psychoactive substances on clients and families
  • Understand co-existing medical and psychological disorders

Treatment Knowledge:

  • Know accepted levels of treatment, recovery, and relapse prevention
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning

Application to Practice:

  • Use screening criteria for substance use disorders and mental health needs
  • Tailor placement recommendations to client individual needs and cultural identity
  • Familiarity with community and internal resources
  • Meet contractual and program service standards

Documentation:

  • Timely documentation of all client information and screenings are documented in the agency's electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Adhere to state, federal, and agency regulations regarding client confidentiality and service provision.
  • Maintain accurate records for auditing and quality assurance purposes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • High School Diploma 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field 
  • Master’s degree in counseling or a directly related field
  • MCAP, CAP, or CAC certification from the Florida Certification Board preferred
  • Two years of direct client service experience in mental health or substance use preferred

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification or certifications must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to move about treatment facility, both indoors and out
  • Ability to lift and carry 5 to 10 pounds reasonable accommodation will be made for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based computers
  • Ability to document in an electronic health record system
  • Ability to use Zoom and Teams virtual platforms
  • Highly organized
  • Familiarity with Data Collection and Analysis

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Treatment program environment
  • Exposure to possible verbal abuse and similar behavior
  • Possible exposure to clients with communicable diseases
  • Involves some outdoor activities
  • In-home or community environments

WORKPLACE STANDARDS:

  • Adheres to company time and attendance standards, with understanding of the needs of a 24-hour residential program if applicable.        
  • Demonstrates knowledge of company policy and procedure.            
  • Performs other duties as assigned and maintains a safe work environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
