The Security Team lead is responsible for overseeing and carrying out the daily operational duties of the Security Department under the direction of the Security Manager. These duties will primarily be at Clearwater Marine Aquarium with potential coverage to other facilities controlled by CMA.
Security Team lead will: secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry and overseeing security personnel at bag check. Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities as well as interviewing witnesses. Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures. Provide security awareness for personnel. Assist in medical emergencies for crowd control and EMS access. Conduct routine rounds throughout the interior and exterior of the facility. When and/or if a situation presents itself contact 911 and act as a point of contact for the authorities to address the situation.Â
The Daytime Security Lead is one of the primary points of contact for any issues that arise during business hours. As such, Lead must be prepared to regularly interact with the public (guests, vendors, and team members) in a friendly and courteous manner. Lead must be able to roam throughout the facility regularly to ensure smooth and consistent operation of the Security department, and must be able to fill in at any station operating during business hours.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure all company standards, policies and procedures are followed by the Security staff.
- Train and coach staff to provide excellent customer service to guests, volunteers, and employeesÂ
- Lead security personnel through full complement daily activities. Lead by example in both positive attitude and mastery of tasks when conducting daily activities.
- Assist in leading the security team by fostering team spirit and co-operation, the encouragement of open expression of differing ideas and opinions and ensuring open lines of communication from the team to the security manager
- In conjunction with Security Manager, serve as onsite point of contact for any security questions or concerns for staff and guests.
- Utilize relevant IT systems for access control, site patrolling, emergency response, cash collection, report generating, incident investigation and all other standard security duties.
- Maintain open communications with the Security Manager on any and all concerns, employee issues, guest issues etc.Â
- Maintain security equipment to ensure it is always available and in proper working order. Report issues with equipment to Security Manager promptly for correction when needed.
- Oversee the testing and evaluation of new security equipment, applications, systems, functions and processes for security risks and compatibility with existing standards, controls, systems and processes.
- Perform system administration duties (ex: develop and implement system programming standards, training documentation, administrator handbooks, policies and procedures).Â
- Liaise with Human Resources department upon request to investigate and resolve personnel matters, establish and terminate personnel key cards, etc.
- Assist with reviewing applications of prospective security employees and conducting interviews alongside Security Manager.
- Assist Security Manager in completing annual employee evaluations.Â
- Ability to cover any shift where staffing is needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduate / GED
- Law enforcement experience / Security guard / Military training Preferred
- Security Class D License required, must obtain within 90 days of hire date
- Security / Computer systems experience preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft suite and email functionality
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingÂ
- Previous experience utilizing handheld radiosÂ
- Proven track record of sound judgment and decision making with the utmost discretion

- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and adapt to changing weather – Frequently
- Work indoors, under cover without air conditioning or heat – Frequently
- Lift up to 50lbs to waist level – Occasionally
- Lift up to 20lbs to shoulders and above head – Occasionally
- Safely climb ladders when needed – Occasionally
- Squat, bend, kneel, twist and reach – Occasionally
- Reach above the shoulders - Occasionally
- Push and pull larger equipment – Occasionally
