JOB SUMMARY:
 
The Karol Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the Feather Sound area of Clearwater, FL, convenient to the beaches, St Pete, and Tampa. The Karol features 123 rooms and suites, and features Katch Restaurant and Vantage Rooftop Bar, along with ballrooms and conference rooms to host events. The Karol Hotel is part of Marriott's Tribute Portfolio.
The Maintenance Engineer coordinates and performs routine, preventative, and emergency interior/exterior maintenance and repairs to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of hotel operations.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
•Meets high maintenance standards in accordance with The Karol Hotel and Marriott mission and standards
•Respond to guests’ maintenance needs promptly and ensure guests receive professional, efficient, prompt and courteous service to hotel standards
•Maintain the physical appearance and operational efficiency of the hotel including physical, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing needs
•Installation & maintenance of all equipment related to HVAC, DG sets, water treatment, and fire safety
•Ensure proper records are kept relating to all plant and equipment for the hotel including repair and service records
•Ensure adequate stock of materials, equipment and tools and are kept in a clean and safe environment
•Take responsibility for the cleanliness and safety aspects of all plant and mechanical equipment rooms
•Ensure the proper use and periodic maintenance of all equipment
•Perform daily and weekly property document inspections
•Ensure property, grounds, physical plant and work areas are maintained to standard and that all safety equipment and conditions are to code
•Establish and maintain department equipment and supply inventory levels appropriate to property requirements
•Maintain, monitor and test hotel's emergency and security systems, including fire alarm and CCTV video footage
•Coordinate with equipment suppliers and any outstanding issues on property
•Ensure successful performance assisting guests with an exceptional experience to ensure high performing scores on Marriott’s Guest Satisfaction Survey
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 
•Strong knowledge of building management/engineering
•Minimum 2-3 years maintenance experience
•Hotel/commercial building experience is a plus
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
•Valid Driver’s License – Position may require occasional travel to stores like Home Depot
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 
•Ability to stand for extended periods of time and in a potentially hot/outdoors area
•Ability to walk and bend
•Ability to lift 50 pounds
•Ability to on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines
•Ability to work independently, take direction and provide direction to others
