The Banquet Coordinator books, plans, and coordinates parties, banquets, and special events at the Emerald Necklace Marina Party Room and other restaurant locations throughout the park district.

  1. Serves as event leader for all banquets, parties and other special events at the Emerald Necklace Marina Party Room, and other Cleveland Metroparks restaurant locations as assigned: Meets with clients to sell event space and book events; answer and respond to event inquiries; gather event information and ensure guest needs are being met; prepare proposals, contracts and other necessary documents; determine proper set-up, food, beverage, and other specific guest needs; and coordinate event with appropriate staff.
  2. Plans and coordinates the logistical execution of parties, banquets and special events including: Scheduling of servers and bartenders, work flow, equipment, supplies, menus; and the set-up, execution, and tear-down.
  3. Manages events ensuring client needs are met and communicating with key stakeholders regarding guest experience.
  4. Manages event budgets. Assures that all revenue control procedures related to events are in compliance with Cleveland Metroparks revenue handling procedures.
  5. Provides prompt and accurate follow-up and communication to guests regarding events.
  6. Acts as on site host/hostess for events.
  7. Evaluates the effectiveness of events and promotions in meeting the goals of Cleveland Metroparks and works with the Assistant Restaurant Manager in making improvements.
  8. Travels to various restaurants and locations throughout the park district to host events, drop off catering, and meet with clients.
  9. Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
  10. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in restaurant management, hospitality, or related field preferred; supplemented by two years of experience in special event management and hospitality; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license under the laws of the State of Ohio. Must be currently certified in, or able to obtain a ServSafe certification.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.

Work Schedule:  Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekend and holidays.
