Produces machined parts using a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) lathe machine. Interprets work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials lists, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters. Checks machine on an ongoing basis to ensure accuracy of settings. Typically has 0-2 years of experience and works under close supervision.

Essential Duties:

  • Operate computer numerically controlled machine tools and related auxiliary equipment to perform a variety of machining operations.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and sketches.
  • Use drawings, sketches, program instructions, charts, tables, specifications, verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Select and Transfer programs from server to machine and back to server.
  • Perform mathematical computations necessary to perform the required operations.
  • Make ordinary set ups using fixtures, drill jigs, vises, blocks, shims, clamps, angle plates and collets as specified.
  • Check and document own work for compliance with drawing requirements. 
  • Detect and replace dull tooling, adjust and maintain setups as necessary.
  • Perform and document completion of Operator specific maintenance tasks, as and when assigned.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations, and unusual conditions, drawing and routing errors to department supervisor.
  • Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations including proper use of PPE
  • Maintain neat and orderly work area, apply and maintain 5S methods.
  • Concentrated mental and visual attention and manual dexterity required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. (Required)
  • Completion of accredited trade school training in CNC machining or previous work experience of two years.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions and documentation as required.
  • Demonstrate ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings.
  • Demonstrate proper use and care of a variety of test and measuring instruments.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce in compliance with technical requirements.
