People Architects is excited to hire an Electrical Engineer for an on-site role in Cleveland, Ohio for one of our manufacturing clients.

You’ll own the design, reliability, and safe operation of plant electrical power distribution, controls, and instrumentation supporting specialty materials manufacturing. This is a hands-on, high-impact role blending project engineering, troubleshooting & preventive/predictive maintenance leadership in an operating facility. 



Responsibilities:


  • Design, modify, and maintain low- and medium-voltage distribution systems, MCCs, and protection schemes
  • Create/update single-line diagrams, panel layouts, schematics, and as-built electrical drawings
  • Specify, program, and support PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus)
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day electrical/controls issues with production, maintenance, and utilities to reduce downtime
  • Lead/support capital and improvement projects: scope, budget, schedule, contractor oversight, and commissioning
  • Build and execute preventive/predictive maintenance strategies (testing, inspection, condition monitoring)
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA (incl. 70E), OSHA, IEEE and site safety standards
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, EHS, Ops, and R&D on safe scale-up and new process integration
  • Maintain documentation, specs, and change-management records in quality/management systems

Qualifications (Required & Preferred): 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related)
  • Strong industrial electrical fundamentals: distribution, motor controls, protection
  • Experience with MCCs, transformers, switchgear, instrumentation
  • Hands-on PLC/HMI/VFD support and industrial communications (EtherNet/IP, Modbus)
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA and applying them in the field
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a live plant and coordinate contractors
  • Practical problem-solving, root-cause thinking, and a reliability mindset
  • Chemical/specialty materials/heavy industrial experience (batch/continuous systems; kilns/furnaces/high-temp)
  • Hazardous area classification/design (Class I/II, Divisions/Zones)
  • Exposure to arc flash, coordination studies, power quality
  • Familiarity with reliability tools (RCM, FMEA) and CMMS/EAM systems
