Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio, Inc. (RMHC NEO) is currently seeking a highly motivated individual who possesses passion, compassion, and dedication as the Family Room Manager for the University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's located at 2101 Adelbert Road, Cleveland, OH, supporting the efforts of the RMHC NEO organization.  

The Family Room Manager is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, coordinating, supervising, evaluating, and recognizing all Family Room volunteers, interns, and associates. This individual upholds the mission, vision, and core values of RMHC NEO by providing our guests with an atmosphere of compassion and interacting with families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds within a hospital environment.  This position reports to the Senior Hospital-Based Program Manager.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that the activities of this position are consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
  • Recruits, interviews, screens, on-boards, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates Family Room volunteers, interns, and associates and ensures all appropriate paperwork, reports, and timesheets are submitted. Provides on-going guidance and support to the team. Fills in for shifts when unable to find coverage.
  • Prepares, collects, and maintains accurate family registration forms for monthly reporting. Seeks feedback on survey forms from families or individuals that are served.
  • Maintains the Family Room clean, neat, and safe and requests repairs and/or additional services from the hospital. Implementing a plan of action to resolve issues, as needed.
  • Attends to the needs of families and shows hospitality and respect to all guests.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and supports guest families while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Provides and refers families to available resources and organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House and RMH Resource Link, as necessary. 
  • Maintains operational policies and procedures to ensure the Family Room functions consistently and efficiently and in compliance with RMHC NEO and hospital policies and procedures. 
  • Collects, aggregates, and uploads accurate site usage data according to all reporting requirements established by department Director.
  • Collects and records Family Room volunteer activity in Volgistics.
  • Maintains a stock of food, beverages, paper products, and supplies. Orders, picks up, and delivers when the stock is low.
  • Oversees and manages site budget and expenditures of the Family Room.
  • Maintains on-going contact with the pediatric hospital staff: Volunteer Services Department, nurses, social workers, child life staff, and other hospital staff to ensure support for families and clarity of Family Room policies. Participate in hospital and other meetings as needed.
  • Plans and implements all Advisory Committee meetings for the year.
  • Collaborates with House, Marketing, and Developments teams on projects that enhance the guest experience.
  • Assists in the collection of family stories and photos, secures thank you notes from families and contributes articles for RMHC NEO newsletters.
  • Plans and coordinates meals and holiday events. Assists with external events and RMHC NEO activities/events as requested.
  • Establishes priorities for managing own work while staying on a focused, efficient path for achieving results.
  • Acts as organizational ambassador and presents a positive image of RMHC NEO.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 5 or more years of experience in related field.  Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related field a plus. 
  • Previous experience collaborating with volunteers preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate well with individuals from diverse backgrounds.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Hospital-Based Program Associates, Volunteers, and Interns.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong computer proficiency, including familiarity with all MS Office products. Ability to learn organization-specific software.
  • Must be dependable and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent skills in organization, planning, time management, decision-making, and problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet frequent deadlines, and work independently. 
  • Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to provide instructions to others and to support the needs of families.
  • Ability to respect and show hospitality to guests from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Must possess high ethical standards and the ability to operate in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation for local travel.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus


WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Regular periods of sitting, standing, walking, and actively interacting with others.
  • Frequent viewing computer monitors and utilizing a computer keyboard.
  • Regularly required to lift and carry up to twenty pounds.


This position is located at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's, 2101 Adelbert Road, Cleveland, OH.
