About the Role:

The Lab Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of healthcare laboratory services within a clinical or research setting. This position is responsible for overseeing daily laboratory activities, coordinating between medical staff, technicians, and administrative personnel to maintain high standards of quality and compliance. The Lab Coordinator ensures that all laboratory procedures adhere to regulatory requirements and institutional policies, facilitating accurate and timely diagnostic testing. Additionally, the role involves managing inventory, scheduling, and maintenance of laboratory equipment to support uninterrupted workflow. Ultimately, the Lab Coordinator contributes to the delivery of reliable laboratory results that support patient care and clinical decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulatory requirements such as CLIA and OSHA.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and basic computer applications.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Healthcare Administration.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).
  • Experience with quality management systems and process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with laboratory accreditation processes and audits.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or coordination role within a healthcare laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily laboratory operations, including workflow management and staff scheduling to optimize productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, laboratory standards, and quality control protocols.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, placing orders and tracking usage to prevent shortages.
  • Serve as a liaison between laboratory personnel, healthcare providers, and external vendors to facilitate communication and resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new laboratory staff to ensure adherence to protocols and best practices.
