Legal Assistant 

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to join our team in our Cleveland office, supporting our Ohio practice group.

The ideal candidate will assist in managing administrative projects and workflow, maintaining communication with clients and stakeholders, and supporting attorneys within the practice group. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in office software, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and send basic correspondence; draft basic legal documents.
  • Manage and maintain assigned case docket, including scheduling, tracking deadlines, preparing evidence submissions, communicating with witnesses, and maintaining digital case files.
  • Assist with administrative functions during annual assessment review cycle.
  • Communicating with county or other governmental entities.
  • Field/screen/direct incoming phone calls, taking accurate messages while interacting professionally with colleagues, clients, other firm professionals, court personnel, co-counsel, etc.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Deliver exceptional service to clients and opposing counsel through effective communication and professional interaction.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the practice administrative group and assist attorneys as needed, fostering a supportive and efficient team environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Digital Literacy - Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, information evaluation, communication, security awareness.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to convert percentages to decimals and work with fractions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Flexible contributor who thrives in a dynamic environment and readily assists across functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse team and diverse client base in a professional, service-oriented manner.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback.

Experience and Education:

  • Preferred experience in a law firm environment with familiarity with litigation terminology.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of administrative office experience.
  • Bachelor or Associate degree strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience in real estate/appraisal is advantageous.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform light work, including occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.
  • Work primarily in a typical office setting.
  • Willingness to work more than 35 hours per week during busy periods, with mandatory full-time office presence during specific periods.

Hybrid Work Model:
During the training period, the role requires full-time office attendance for five days a week. After completion, the position will transition to a hybrid schedule.
