  • Organizes and conducts Speech-Language Pathology services to facilitate the (re)habilitation of people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. 
  • The Speech-Language Pathologist directs the patient's participation in selected activities/treatments to promote and/or maintain good health and communication.
  • Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care to facilitate the habilitation or rehabilitation of people with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disabilities.
  • Directs patient participation in selected activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
  • Performs evaluation(s), develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patient’s rehabilitation needs within the care continuum, initiates and participates in the discharge planning process.
  • Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.
  • Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to, documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.
  • Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care to facilitate the habilitation or rehabilitation of people with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disabilities.
  • Directs patient participation in selected activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
  • Performs evaluation(s), develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patient’s rehabilitation needs within the care continuum, initiates and participates in the discharge planning process.
  • Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.
  • Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to, documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.
  • Meets minimum requirements as required by current hospital and department PRN policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. 
  • Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.


  • Master's Degree MA or MS Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program required.
  • Master's Degree MA or MS Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program required.
  • Experience in similar role to position preferred.
  • Must have professional initiative, objectivity, good time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be physically and cognitively able to provide patient assessment and treatment. 
  • Requires the evaluation and treatment skills necessary to provide Speech-Language Pathology services appropriate to the developmental/chronological age of patients on their caseload. 
  • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensed by the State of Ohio, Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology or Conditional license by the State of Ohio. (Required Upon Hire)
  • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) American Speech Language Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence or Clinical Fellow (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Basic Life Support Certification (Required Upon Hire)
  • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensed by the State of Ohio State of Ohio, Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology (Required Upon Hire)
  • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) American Speech Language Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence or Clinical Fellow Certification Required Upon Hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Upon Hire.
