Overview
POSITION SUMMARY
The School and Community Liaison drives participation growth within an assigned territory through strategic relationship building, targeted outreach, and hands-on community engagement. It's a high-visibility, field-based sales role built for a self-starter who thrives on ownership, fast relationship-building, and measurable results.
You'll build trusted relationships with school administrators and campus influencers, including school nurses, principals, administrative assistants, and attendance clerks. You'll identify the right advocates at each school, equip them to champion the program, and drive direct parent engagement through school and community events.
This role is highly cross-functional. You'll partner closely with the Director of Operations, School Relationship Managers (SRMs), and clinical/dental care teams to execute territory marketing tactics and the sales toolkit, ensuring every scheduled dental visit reaches its full participation potential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you'll:
- Identify and cultivate relationships with school administrators and influencers (school nurses, principals, administrative assistants, attendance clerks) who can champion parent consent form completion.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned schools, building trust and credibility with campus staff throughout the school year.
- Develop and execute a weekly plan/schedule based on participation data, upcoming school visits, and priority schools.
- Lead direct parent engagement through back-to-school nights, school functions, and community outreach to build awareness and drive parent consent form return.
- Execute territory marketing tactics and the sales toolkit in partnership with the local dental team and SRM.
- Coordinate distribution and collection strategies for parent consent forms to maximize participation ahead of each school's scheduled dental visit.
- Follow up promptly with school contacts after outreach efforts to address barriers, answer questions, collect permission forms, and maintain engagement.
- Monitor participation trends by school and proactively adjust tactics to close gaps ahead of scheduled visit dates.
- Represent Smile America Partners professionally in schools and communities, reinforcing the brand as a trusted school health partner and dental home for students.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the Director of Operations, School Relationship Managers (SRMs), and clinical/dental care teams to align territory tactics, visit logistics, and outreach priorities.
- Conduct all school, parent, and community outreach activities in accordance with applicable federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, company policies, and approved marketing and outreach practices, including requirements applicable to Medicaid and other federally funded healthcare programs.
- Comply with the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and applicable state fraud, abuse, anti-kickback, patient-inducement, and referral laws. The Liaison must not offer, provide, solicit, or facilitate cash, gifts, incentives, benefits, or other remuneration intended to improperly induce or reward patient referrals, parent consent, utilization of services, or the generation of business reimbursable by a federal healthcare program.
- Ensure that relationships with schools, school administrators, nurses, teachers, community organizations, parents, and other referral or outreach sources are based on legitimate education, engagement, and access-to-care objectives and are not conditioned upon the volume or value of referrals, consent forms, patients, or federally reimbursable services generated.
QUALIFICATIONS
We're looking for a relationship-driven, results-oriented sales professional who brings:
- 2–3 years of proven success in sales or relationship-based field work; experience selling into or partnering with education institutions strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success building relationships with school administrators, decision-makers, or community influencers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences including school staff, parents, and community groups.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple districts, schools and priorities within a territory.
- Comfortable working independently in the field and attending events outside standard business hours (evenings/weekends as needed).
- Proficiency with CRM systems, including responsibility for accurate and timely documentation of school interactions, outreach activities, and next steps.
- Bilingual communication skills a plus, given outreach to diverse Medicaid-enrolled family populations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for territory travel.
SUCCESS METRICS
Your performance will be measured by:
- Parent consent form completion / participation rate by assigned school.
- Growth in participation rate year-over-year within the territory.
- Number and quality of school advocate relationships established.
- Timeliness and accuracy of CRM documentation
Who We Are
Smile America Partners is the nation's leading in-school dental program founded almost two decades ago by two moms, who happen to also be dentists. The founders saw a tremendous need among underserved school aged children who did not have easy access to dental care and who often suffered from poor oral hygiene, tooth decay, pain and associated medical problems. Knowing that many parents could not take their children to the dentist due to issues including time off from work and transportation challenges, they sought to bring the care to the need. Today, through its dental partners, Smile America Partners provides preventive and restorative care to approximately 500,000 children per year.
Â
Tooth decay is the most common, and preventable disease among children, more common than asthma. In fact, each year, over 51 million school hours are lost due to oral health related issues.
Â
Smile America Partners affiliates with state licensed dentists, hygienists and assistants who use state-of-the-art portable equipment to provide all services onsite, directly in the school or in a self-contained mobile dental facility on site at the school. If portable equipment is used, classrooms, auditoriums or other school venues are literally transformed into fully functional dental offices for the day. Our expertise, obtained through years of experience bringing mobile dental care to schools, as well as through our highly qualified staff, enables us to bring exceptional care with minimal disruption to the normal school routine.
Â
Smile America Partners is currently active in 20 states and has ongoing strategic partnerships with over 8,000 school districts, including 21 of the 25 largest school districts in the country.
Â
Given the ongoing lack of access for many underserved children across the country, our services are in great demand and we are always looking for caring, compassionate professionals to join our team and play their part in making a difference in the lives of today's underserved children.

Rewarding Work. Competitive Compensation. Smile America Partners.
