POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the organization’s accounting operations by performing account reconciliations, analyzing balance sheet activity, preparing financial reports, and participating in month-end and year-end close processes. This position also assists with audits, supports internal reporting, and provides backup coverage for various accounting functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to continuous process improvement.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities
  • Monitor and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports and account reconciliations across multiple entities
  • Compile documentation and provide support for internal and external audits
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed
  • Process credit card transactions and open lockbox items
  • Handle manual transactions including check-by-phone payments, manual EDI entries, incoming wires, NSF items, and bank deposits
  • Collaborate with the collections and cash application teams to ensure proper application of customer payments
  • Research and resolve unapplied or missing payments
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting, special projects, and process improvement initiatives
  • Provide backup support for other roles within the accounting department as needed

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems preferred
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism, business acumen, and integrity
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and evolving environment
