About the Role:
The Superintendent plays a critical leadership role in overseeing construction projects from inception through completion, ensuring that all work is performed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This position requires managing on-site operations, coordinating subcontractors, and maintaining clear communication with project stakeholders to deliver high-quality results. The Superintendent 1 is responsible for enforcing compliance with all safety regulations and quality standards, while proactively identifying and resolving any issues that may arise during construction. This role demands a hands-on approach to supervising daily activities, monitoring progress, and adjusting plans as necessary to meet project goals. Ultimately, the Superintendent ensures that construction projects are executed efficiently, meeting client expectations and company standards in the United States construction industry.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in construction management or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction supervision or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and building codes applicable in the United States.
- Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate complex construction activities on-site.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Certification such as OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety and Health or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
- Experience with project management software and construction scheduling tools like Procore or Microsoft Project.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing large teams on commercial or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with sustainable building practices and LEED certification standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and laborers to maintain workflow and quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, enforce safety protocols, and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to communicate project status, address challenges, and implement solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, schedules, and change orders to support project tracking and accountability.

The Superintendent 1 utilizes strong organizational and leadership skills daily to coordinate complex construction activities and ensure project milestones are met efficiently. Effective communication skills are essential for liaising with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams to maintain transparency and resolve issues promptly.
