Birch Agency is seeking a caring, patient, and dependable Teacher Aide / Paraprofessional to provide dedicated support to a 1st grade student with autism in a Cleveland, Ohio school.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an educator or support professional who enjoys working one-on-one with students and wants to play an important role in their academic, behavioral, social, and personal development.
Youll work alongside the classroom teacher and school support team to help the student feel successful, included, and confident throughout the school day.
What You'll Do
As a Teacher Aide / Paraprofessional, you will:
Provide individualized one-on-one support to a 1st grade student with autism.
Assist with tableside instruction, classroom activities, and academic tasks.
Help the student follow classroom routines, directions, and expectations.
Reinforce academic, behavioral, and social goals established by the classroom team.
Support the student during transitions and daily classroom activities.
Provide positive encouragement, redirection, and reinforcement when needed.
Help promote the student's independence and participation in the classroom.
Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher, special education staff, and school team.
Follow student-specific support strategies and school policies.
Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who is compassionate, dependable, patient, and genuinely enjoys helping children succeed.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children is preferred.
Experience working in a school, special education, or behavioral support setting is a plus.
Experience supporting students with autism or other developmental needs is preferred.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to remain patient and supportive in challenging situations.
Ability to follow classroom and student-specific support plans.
Paraprofessional certification, education coursework, or related experience is a plus.
