CLEVELAND AREA HOSPITAL is an independent, self-managed Critical Access Hospital, half an hour west of Tulsa, Oklahoma. As the only hospital in Pawnee County, we are constantly striving to provide the highest level of care by continuously growing and updating our services and equipment. Our facilities include a Level IV Trauma Center/ER, Skilled Nursing/Swing Bed program, Respiratory Therapy, CT, 3D Mammography, a fully equipped Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, 24/7 Lab, and a Primary Care Clinic. The organization is a Regional Healthcare Provider in its 10th year of consistent leadership. Continuing the spirit of growth, healing, and service-driven healthcare established when the hospital first opened in 1963, Cleveland Area Hospital is on track to build a new facility, expand our services, and better serve our patients and communities.


POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating departmental equipment and for the general maintenance of the facility and its equipment. These duties are performed in accordance with all applicable standards to provide a safe environment of care for employees, patients, and visitors.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Adhere to all policies of the organization, including (but not limited to) job description, certification/licensure requirements, mission statement, HIPAA, confidentiality standard, and patients’ rights. 

· Stay up to date with organization communication and directives.

· Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems, including HVAC, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, kitchen equipment, drains, and shop.

· Perform general preventative maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds.

· Perform maintenance duties as requested, including replacing light bulbs, cleaning fixtures, window replacement, carpentry, moving furniture, removing scrap, etc.

· Perform urgent corrective, routine, and requested repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as required, resetting breakers, replacing defective switches, locks, plugs, lamps, and ballasts. Adjusts thermostats, changes filters, and makes minor plumbing repairs (e.g., leaky faucets and toilets). 

· Inspect alarm systems (fire protection) and inform the manager when repairs are needed.

· Maintain the grounds and properly perform such tasks as picking up trash, sweeping, raking, clipping, and removal of limbs and leaves, watering plants, and cleaning out guttering.

· Help maintain logs for maintenance and repairs. 

· Performs daily, weekly, and monthly checks on oxygen, grounds, generator, lights, and water, as directed by the manager, and documents them according to the equipment.

· Perform wall repairs, including scraping, sanding, priming, and plastering.

· Painting the building interior and exterior as needed.

· Removal of snow and ice

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  

EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS REQUIRED:

· High School diploma or equivalent

· Valid Oklahoma Driver’s license

· Third Class Engineer certificate or state trade license is a plus, but not required.

· Operation and maintenance of mechanical and related equipment

· General building maintenance skills, including basic plumbing, wall repair, and lighting.

· Knowledge of HVAC, boiler, water, and oxygen systems

· Knowledge of how to use and maintain tools and equipment.

· Must be proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology.

· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and follow-through skills

· Resourceful self-starter who works well independently as well as part of a team.

· Remain flexible, organized, professional, and able to analyze and make sound decisions under stressful situations.


EXPERIENCE:

· Three years of experience in the repair, operation, and maintenance of general electrical and mechanical equipment. 

· HVAC experience required

· Hospital maintenance experience preferred but not required


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The working environment is indoors and outdoors, and in inclement weather. May be exposed to hazardous materials, flammable liquids, damp/wet surfaces, snow/ice-covered surfaces, toxic fumes/vapors/odors, airborne particles, moving and mechanical parts, vibration, loud noises, and communicable diseases. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical requirements include frequent walking and standing; frequent lifts and carries up to 50 pounds; occasional lifts/carries up to 100 pounds; constantly lifts/carries 10 to 20 pounds; occasional pushing/pulling; frequent reaching, sitting, balancing, kneeling, bending, handling, feeling, climbing, and twisting; occasional crawling, smelling, crouching, and stooping; speech and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
