Position Summary

Under general supervision of and in accordance with Clovis Community College and departmentally established practices and expectations, adjunct instructors work collaboratively with other faculty within the College and their discipline to ensure that key concepts of the specific discipline are addressed. The Game Design Instructor will teach a range of courses focused on foundational and advanced design principles, game design production, and industry-standard software applications.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Deliver well-prepared, organized, and clear lectures and activities tailored for both in-person and online formats, aiming to facilitate student mastery of the course learning outcomes.

  • Develop and submit course syllabi for all assigned courses, ensuring inclusion of all required components and tailored to the instructional modality utilized (online or face-to-face).

  • Collaborate with department members and the Division Chair to develop and revise curriculum, select textbooks and equipment, create instructional materials, and ensure cohesive and uniform student assessment practices.

  • Establish and maintain an effective learning environment across assigned courses, adapting to diverse modalities including face-to-face, hybrid, asynchronous and synchronous online, as well as dual credit and Early College High School instruction contexts.

  • Utilizing course assessment practices, assess and communicate student proficiency in achieving course learning outcomes. Document findings in formal assessment reports as directed by the Assessment Council and the Executive Vice President.

  • Utilize technology, including but not limited to Canvas, Starfish, MS Office, and the Internet, for classroom, studio, and laboratory instruction. Provide students with timely and accurate information and feedback regarding their academic progress, using assessments such as quizzes, tests, homework, and projects.

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all college policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to use Microsoft and Google office products.

  • Must be patient, friendly, approachable, and caring.

DISCIPLINE COURSES:

  • FDMA 1510 INTRODUCTION TO 3D ANIMATION

  • FDMA 2713 COMPUTER 2D ANIMATION

  • FDMA 2790 GAME DESIGN CONCEPTS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires frequent and continuous sitting/moving about, continuous use of fine motor skills. Pushing and pulling of up to 20lbs.

SCHEDULE DETAILS:  

Part-time hours may vary depending on student and departmental needs.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Game Design or related field such as Digital Media Arts, Animation, 3D Modeling / Game Art with an emphasis in game design.

  • A minimum of three (3) years of documented professional experience in the specialty area of the course being taught

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree Game Design, or related field such as Digital Media Arts, Animation, 3D Modeling / Game Art with an emphasis in game design.

  • Adobe Certified Professional credentials and expertise in game design concepts.

  • Expertise in game design software such as GameSalad, GameMaker, and Unity.
